Colin Cook
LEAD PASTOR Sunny Brae
Colin has been serving as Lead Pastor at Sunny Brae Baptist Church since 2008. Over the years, he has had the privilege of walking alongside the Sunny Brae church family through seasons of growth, change, new beginnings, and, of course, plenty of potlucks! He is deeply passionate about helping people grow in their faith in Jesus and discover what it means to follow Him in every area of everyday life.
Colin is passionate about seeing the Church become a place where people can know Christ, grow in their faith, build meaningful relationships, and live out the Gospel together. He considers it a privilege to journey with people through all of life’s seasons and to see God at work in individuals, families, and the church community.
Colin and his wife, Joy, have shared this journey of ministry and life together while raising their two daughters, Melora and Julia. Both daughters are now married — Melora to Aiden and Julia to Daniel — and Colin is enjoying the new chapter of having two sons-in-law and an ever-growing family. Family gatherings are always an important part of life, and there is never a shortage of stories, laughter, or the occasional sermon illustration around the dinner table!
When he’s not preaching, visiting, or dreaming about what God might have in store for the next season of ministry, Colin enjoys football, a perfectly grilled steak, and spending time with Joy — not necessarily in that order! He believes life is best lived with faith in Jesus, time with family, and a good laugh along the way.
Colin is grateful for the opportunity to serve the Sunny Brae family and looks forward to continuing to see God’s purposes unfold in the life of the church and the community around it.

Kathleen (Kathy) Miller Smith
ADMINISTRATION
Kathy was born and raised at Sunny Brae Baptist Church, and after spending more than 20 years living in the United States, she returned home to Moncton in January 2025 to join the Sunny Brae team. Coming home to serve the church that has been such an important part of her life is a special privilege and joy for her.
Before returning to Canada, Kathy spent 15 years serving at Family Church in South Florida, a multi-campus church with 18 locations and a diverse, multi-cultural and multi-generational congregation. During her time there, she served as a Ministry Assistant in a variety of areas, including Administration, Groups and Connections, as well as Leadership and Teaching. These experiences provided her with a broad range of ministry and leadership experience and a deep passion for helping people become connected and engaged in the life of the church.
Kathy holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with concentrations in Management and Christian Studies, from Columbia Southern University. She also graduated from the Family Church Church Planting Residency Program, a two-year intensive program designed to equip and develop leaders for church planting and ministry. Through the residency, Kathy received training and experience in a variety of ministry areas, including pastoral leadership, worship, students, kids, connections, groups, pastoral care and community outreach.
Kathy is passionate about her faith, her church and helping others discover the hope and purpose found in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Her prayer is that everyone who walks through the doors of Sunny Brae will feel welcomed, find community, and be encouraged to discover and pursue their own faith journey through Christ.
Outside of ministry, Kathy enjoys spending time with her family and her German Shepherd, Rayne. She is grateful to be home and looks forward to serving the Sunny Brae family and community for many years to come.
